  • Valor7: I could have worded that better, we talked details, options, the pros and cons of each, in  order to arrive at the best ballot language to present to the voters. Hope that makes this clearer.

  • Valor7: Yes and no. We talked details and options until we were blue in the face but I never heardbring it over, it was always the time was not right for the issue to pass. Glad to see the time in now right and I for one shall vote yes on the ballot. I would urge all others to do the sameour county is busting at the seams crimewise and no matter how many bad guys we send off there always seems to someone to replace them. The Sheriff's Office needs the help.

Irish I gree with you.  Need to voice concerns with the council and mayor.  And remember folks, government can always use eminent domain to get what they want.  I'm not sure I want the government getting too far into my business.

Irish, I have to agree with you too.  Name calling is uncalled for.  Fedup, Eminent domain cannot be used just to take over a home or business at the whim of any government.  There are lots of restrictions and the council knows that too.  Besides, they can't afford to pay fair market value on all of the properties or businesses they would like to see cleaned up.  I do have to say that if the concil is going after private homeowners who pay property taxes and mortgages and not just lease, then they should go after the businesses to clean up too.  Seems they are doing a relatively good job from what I have noticed when I drive throught the main street.  Yes, Anderson's could stand a bit more clean up.  But don't look for it to happen anytime soon.

Matrsnot, if they decide to declare it a blighted area, you might be surprised how easy eminent domain can be.  HB 1944 did some good things but it did not define blight, so basically it is whatever they decide it to be at the time.  Wish Rep Day would help close that loophole.

Eminent Domain is not anything I can ever see myself supporting.  As far as the trailer, if it falls someone will get a very large bill for the repairing of the damage it would cause.

The New City Hall was designed by Ireland and Associates and the work was done by Bales Construction.  It is a beautiful job and a good investment by the City.  Hope the citizens are proud of it.

I think the outside looks great.  I haven't had an opportunity to visit the inside, but will try and take a look in the coming weeks.  If it looks as nice as the outside, I'm sure it's pretty nice as well.
