Not yet.  I bet they are least double and closer to triple since the county did their little thing with a pencil/computer.  You can be sure they did not visit the homesteads.  Too much work that way.

There was a vehicle that said county collector with people inside writing stuff on paper when they stopped by my property.  I wonder what they were doing?

I know they showed up at my rental trailer here while back just wanting to know the size of the trailer, But my renters told them to stop by my home on the way out and I was already outside and they just drove on by curious to see what is on my taxes considering they can't tax something that isn't a permanent fixture.
Go ahead and blame me....Everyone else does

The real story is that the two employees that visit the homes are out almost every day, I know I watch them leave. But they have one car for both of them and this is a big county. Read as they do not have sufficient resources to visit all places. PCSD is not alone.

We got our taxes today and one vehicle is listed twice and they added another on that we haven't had in a number of years. The taxes went up quite a bit for us.

They want higher taxes and complain when they have to pay them.   The more taxes the more waste.

I plan on calling them tomorrow after work. For the record, I don't mind paying higher taxes, if the money goes where it is needed.

Yes...except for the Sheriff's Office of course.

My taxes weren't as high as they estimated them.  I was pleasantly surprised.  But looks like the County Health Insurance will be going up so that will make up the difference I am sure.

Everyone remember the Sheriff's Dept. does not get their revenue out of the Property Tax.

Dear Cowboy, In your reply dated Nov 5 2007 you said a vehicle with a sign which said county collector was at your house.  The county collector does not a vehicle with a sign, the county assessor has a vehicle with a sign which is county assessor. They travel around the county not the collector !! The assessor decides what your taxes will be not the collector.  The collector collects only what the assessor has decided as your tax. I hope this helps you understand the process. john q public

Your correct I should have said assessor, any way it was Roger and I do understand the process.

You must also remember that at the same time the county collector was running for office and had signs on the windows of her SUV.  It is possible you could have seen both the collector and assessor running around with vehicles with signs on their vehicles but for different reasons

Guess I have to get my annual gripe in....that darn school tax sure is high.. my bill was about 91.00 for one of which the school gets 76.00 and the other was 436.00 and the school gets 367.00 of that. School is coming out pretty good if you ask me.  Don't know why they even bothered to put it on the ballot, they just shoved it down our throats anyway.  JB why can't you do the same thing? I'm done.  Won't gripe again till next year.  Just my opinion.

If anyone feels that the value of their real estate is too high... they just need to call and speak with the Assessor.  The value's through out the county have been under market value in many cases.  Re-Assessment is also something the State enforces.  He's human, just give him a call and state  your case.  I'll be the first in line to say that I hate paying taxes, but I look at it like someone paid for my education, when I was in school.  Up until college anyway.

school taxes is where it all goes! Thats fine however, for as much as I pay and add everyone else it makes you wonder where does the money go?
We no longer have a shop class, drama class or anything like that and we had it when I was in school back in the 80's!!!!!! We had drivers education as a needed elective too and now they do it only during summer school!!!! I would like to know what in the world has happened when the funds were there then for these programs and now they are not??
They need shop and most importantly Drivers Education!!!!!

It goes to new buildings, ball fields, soccer fields etc not into education.  Kid now days can't do math with out a computer but they always seem to have time to run around in a new car of their own with out much work or effort.   So whos at fault?

The money sure as hell doesn't go into books either.  Not a very good accounting is it?  Who is responsible for all that money anyway?  I hope it is not the school board.  They are the ones that stole money from the citizens of this area after being denied TWICE by the voters.
