  • Valor7: I could have worded that better, we talked details, options, the pros and cons of each, in  order to arrive at the best ballot language to present to the voters. Hope that makes this clearer.

  • Valor7: Yes and no. We talked details and options until we were blue in the face but I never heardbring it over, it was always the time was not right for the issue to pass. Glad to see the time in now right and I for one shall vote yes on the ballot. I would urge all others to do the sameour county is busting at the seams crimewise and no matter how many bad guys we send off there always seems to someone to replace them. The Sheriff's Office needs the help.

Election 2008Kerry Backs Obama, Snubbing Former Running Mate            Listen: Two Wine Men: Slate Political Correspondent John Dickerson                                            add              Sen.EnlargeCharles Rex ArbogastDemocraticpresidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL), with former Democraticpresidential candidate, Sen. John Kerry (D-MA), at a rally on theCollege of Charleston campus in Charleston, S.C., on Thursday. AP  NPR.org, January 10, 2008 Sen. John Kerry, the Massachusetts Democrat who unsuccessfully soughtthe White House in 2004, threw his support behind presidential hopefulSen. Barack Obama on Thursday, spurning both Sen. Hillary Clinton andthe man who had been his own running mate.
Kerry delivered hisendorsement in South Carolina two weeks before that state's primary, asClinton is riding a wave of enthusiasm following her victory over Obamain the New Hampshire primary.
In endorsing the man who hopes tobe the first black president, Kerry told a cheering crowd, "MartinLuther King said the time is always right to do what is right."
Kerry said now is the time to declare "that Barack Obama can be, will be and should be the next president of the United States."
Kerrysaid "more than anyone else, Barack Obama can help our country turn thepage and get America moving by uniting and ending the division we havefaced."
Kerry took a swipe at Clinton, who has pressed her case that the Illinois senator lacks enough experience to be president.
"Somehave suggested in this campaign that Barack is guilty of raising 'falsehopes,'" Kerry told a cheering crowd. "My friends, the only charge thatrings false is the one that tells you not to hope for a bettertomorrow."
Taking the microphone from Kerry, Obama said: "In theunlikely story that is America, there has never been anything falseabout hope."
Former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina, thethird contender in the Democratic presidential race, was Kerry's vicepresidential running mate in 2004. Despite their political alliance, the two men were not close personally and differed behind the scenes oncampaign strategy in a race that President Bush won.
Edwardsresponded to word of the endorsement with a diplomatic statement: "Ourcountry and our party are stronger because of John's service, and Irespect his decision. When we were running against each other and onthe same ticket, John and I agreed on many issues."
Kerry wasObama's political benefactor once before, selecting the relativelyunknown Illinois senatorial candidate to deliver the keynote address atthe 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston. It was Obama's firstturn in the national spotlight and helped launch him on a remarkableascent that has made him one of two leading contenders for the party'spresidential nomination only four years later.
The Massachusetts senator lost the South Carolina Democratic primary in 2004 to Edwards.
WhileKerry has been close to former President Bill Clinton, he was incensedin 2006 when Hillary Clinton chided him after Kerry suggested thatpeople who don't go to school "get stuck in Iraq."
Aides saidKerry meant to jab at Bush and say "get us stuck in Iraq," and that hedidn't appreciate Clinton piling onto the criticism he was alreadygetting for the remark.
The Republican National Committee pounced on the endorsement to brand Kerry and Obama "liberal soul mates."
Sincelosing the 2004 race, Kerry has kept a national network of supportersintact. He has an e-mail network of 3 million supporters, according toaides. He also has traveled extensively raising millions of dollars forDemocratic candidates nationwide.

I love it when the dems turn on each other.
Kerry had a great line when he suggested bubba didn't have a right to abuse the truth/facts. Kerry was always on the up and up? LOL LOL
