ALCON,
The Fort Leonard Wood community is seeing an unusually high number of Influenza-like illness.  We would strongly encourage all areas on post to make sure that their folks have had the Influenza vaccination or Flu mist. The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses.
The flu spreads in respiratory droplets caused by coughing and sneezing.
It usually spreads from person to person, though occasionally a person may become infected by touching something with virus on it and then touching their mouth or nose.  It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. Since there are no known cures for the flu, prevention must be the goal.  The most effective way to prevent flu is to get the flu shot. Other prevention measures include:
1. Wash your hands using soap and warm water.  Use hand sanitizer if a sink is not available.
2. Don't Cover Your Sneezes and Coughs with Your Hands.
3. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing.
4. If a tissue isn't available cough or sneeze away from other people and into your elbow.
5. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
Contributing factors include but are not limited to the following:
  Close quarters in the barracks
Lack of adequate sanitation in the barracks
No chance for Soldiers in training to complete personal hygiene tasks such as showering due to lack of shower time.
Pushing soldiers that aren't feeling well to continue to maximize their exercise.
 Enforcement of:
          Guidelines as posted above
provide masks to those that are coughing
The environmental section will be contacting POCs to do "spot checks" in the barracks to ensure that we are maximizing our support of our Soldiers in training.

My family has the flu right now.
Some people are like Slinkies... Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

I'd give my left arm to be ambidextrous...

Not our idea of fun is it Law101?
My kids have bounced back from this nasty bug thankfully.
Mr. littlebit still has a nasty cough.

DD1 is bouncing back, now DD2 is 'tummy sick' not sure if she ate something she should not have or it is the bug -- I'm kinda hoping for bad food -- it does not last as long as this bug!

My daughter's swab told us she does not have strep, just the virus bug that is going around so they can't do anything for it.
I am going to get some more rest while the house is quiet.
     See you all later.

And everytime you think you are over it, it comes right back.  Today is my first day up again after another 2 day bout of stomach and intestinal symtoms.  I still can't eat anything without getting sick.

Had it myself.  Got a horrible cough and chest heaviness...couldn't hold food down for anything, and had a bad fever.
Went to the doctor....
His diagnosis was TONSILLITIS.
Bad thing is, I haven't had tonsils since 2001!!  Absolutely BRILLIANT huh?  ???
Good thing is, I've lost 13 pounds in a week.  I wanted to lose weight, I just don't think this is the best way.

This one is definitely different that's for sure.  The head congestion is more like sinus infection - complete with severly runny nose, sneezing and watery itchy eyes.  The chest isn't too bad.  And, just like the flu, everything smells and tastes funny.  The loss of appetite is the bizzare part.
Wife and I have the same symptoms.  Been coming and going since Super Bowl weekend.

Law -- GET BACK IN BED and give it another day of rest.  Everytime you get up you get sick again :(
Man oh Man!  That intestinal part -- and man does it come on strong!  I never prayed so hard to get home quickly in my life -- but I knew that T-highway would not be a safe place to be knelt over the side of the road!

I think I am feeling a little bit better today, at least compared to yesterday.  I can at least handle food again.  Hope everyone who is down with this also starts feeling better.

I got a question.  About the symptoms.  I feel fine, but my sinus' have been popping the last couple of hours.   You know, like they do in an airplane.
This isn't a harbinger of this nasty bug, is it?
