Glad to see the time in now right and I for one shall vote yes on the ballot. I would urge all others to do the sameour county is busting at the seams crimewise and no matter how many bad guys we send off there always seems to someone to replace them. In't it sad for school officials to actually sauy that to ANY student.. And yes.. A high School diploma is extremely important... :fight:

My brother in law went to Job Corp down in Puxico, MO. He should have graduated from Crocker two years ago, but instead went to job corps because the school system in Crocker was not good at all back then. It sounds like it isn't much better now. He enjoyed the job corp experience. He went for bricklaying and painting and drywalling and he got to come back home a year after he left.
Don't mistake lack of talent for genius

Thats great!!   Face it,  allot of kids are droping out, The Job Corps has been around for years. While you can learn a trade. You also learn about job prices and labor costs. Look around and I bet you can tell,  who knowes who, ect....   They are more then likely UNION folks.

I am trying to talk Joe into going to job corp. He doesn't want to miss a year or more of Brook's life but I told him better than and being able to provide for her than staying the way we are.

My step-son went to Job Corp after graduating from Crocker 07. His biggest reason for going was that he didn't want to commit to college or military yet.  He left in January 08.  His trade was welding and he finished in 8 months.  He really enjoyed the staff and learned alot from the program. By the time he was close to finishing he realized what was happening in the job market and he signed up with the Marines. A year into his Marine career he enjoys his career and is happy with his choices.

My intention wasn't to brag about my step-son but to talk about Job Corp. Yes, I am proud but all credit goes to him for making one decision and it all grew from there. He was very unmotivated and depressed about what to do in life. Job Corp has some really good programs for the kids that just don't know what to do and it really works with the ones with dependants.  It doesn't cost the parents money and the students get paid while there.  They are strict but lots of these kids need it. It can be a great stepping stone into life.

You should be proud, he did make good decisions, and that's great. If your son is who I think he is, he was one reason Joe was looking at job corps. I think Joe's problem is that I am there, I have a job, I can take care of Brooklyn. I tried to make him think about what would happen if, God forbid, I wasn't there anymore. I asked him if he could take care of her? he knows he couldn't. I told him I just have to hope in that moment he would grow up and do something about it, or give her to someone who can take care of her until he can get on his feet.
He is doing GED practice things on the internet. But he has a long way to go. He was also encouraged to drop out of Crocker schools and slipped through the cracks the years he was there. I will just say that with math we are starting at square one.
