I have to vote for Bill Farnham.  He has always responded to my phone calls on behalf of Big Piney.  He has done this since the South Gate issue, so I know it is not just because it is election time.  Another point in his favor, is the fact that he has actually come out and toured our area with his road supervisor and this was before all the flooding we had.
They made a list of things that needed to be done to correct some major problems in our area.

I don't know anything about the other candidates who are running for this office, but I would be interested in hearing from them.

I saw somebody's for Western Comm. down on Historic 66 past Ichord.  Don't remember whos though.  Next time I am down that way I will look.  I live 3 miles west of that location and am in the Eastern Dist. so pretty sure it was not in the right area.  Somebody is going to get confused if they start that.

I know that Bill Farnham is in favor of letting the public decide if they want an LE Tax.

I thought it was Bill Ransdall who was doing most of the PCW bashing although I may be wrong about it.

On the Eastern side: Dixon, Waynesville, St. Robert, Big Piney, Devils Elbow is: Farnham on republican ticket, in democrat primary Bobby Miller and Earl Arnold. Either Bobby or Earl will then face Farnham in November.

tlh1224 there is another candidate name of Bobby Miller. He was presiding commissioner back in the 90s. He and Earl are in the democrat primary.

I won't be voting for Farnham for several reasons:  1) when he ran against Gary Carmack to get the job he bashed Gary for missing some meetings, the fact that Gary was going through cancer treatments at the time didn't matter.  About six months after he was elected, Farnham has back surgery (through the medical insurance provided by the county, amazing how his back went bad just as the insurance was kicking in) and missed meetings.  So, based upon his own standard, he doesn't deserve to be reelected.  (2) In addition, on the budget, he divided the road budget 50/50 with Thornsberry.  That sounds nice, but Farnham's district has more road miles than Thornsberry so he cut us short.  The road budget should of been based on mileage in the district.  (3) Farnham has also hurt the taxpayers on some of his gravel deals.  For instance, he made a purchase for gravel from someone in Dixon at a higher rate per ton than one closer to Waynesville, the Dixon dealer charged more to haul the gravel (no surprise there since it's farther) etc.  In other words, he spent YOUR tax dollars to buy from a friend instead of saving the taxpayer dollars by buying from a competitor who had a better price.  That should be a huge red flag to JB's supporters who talk about the lack of money in the budget.  It's a different pot of money but the principle is the same.  So, even though he may be supportive of the LE tax, his other decisions have not been great and, in my humble opinion, Farnham has not earned another term.  He's looking out for a select few and not the people in his district, his efforts in Big Piney not withstanding.

Thanks for posting some background on the Eastern District.  I was not aware of most of those facts.  I will certainly have questions about them.  I have to admit that I Hate election time because of all the cruel things that are said or done by those running for office.  I didn't pay attention to anything in Pulaski County itself until I found this website so I was not aware of what went on during the last election for Commissioners.

I know what you mean Law.  I don't post things that I don't know about myself.  I may disagree with JB about some things but I respect him and listen to his viewpoint (just using JB as an example).  I live in Hunters Point and many up here were really on Gary Carmack when he was commissioner, and voted in Farnham.  Suddenly, Farnham gets a rain check where Carmack was held accountable.  I don't agree with that, my standards are the same regardless of the party.  I think Arnold will represent ALL of the people of the Eastern District, if elected.

Fedup I find it interesting that you know the cost of gravel and transportation cost from each supplier to a given location.   Do you have the invoices to backup your claims?  I recall there was an atricle in the DG that the commission decided to purchase from the guy closest to the job because the overall cost was lower.

Fedup, I would be interested in the date and location of the gravel work you are refering to.  I also would like to hear from DM regarding the article that Cowboy refers to.  It makes it much easier for me to find answers to the questions you have raised.

Law, why don't you just call Farnham and ask him. If you're not satisified with his answer, then you can investigate. Try the easy way first. Saves time and energy.
I have it on good authority that the Hokey-Pokey really IS what it's all about.

Cowboy, I'm not a county agency so naturally I don't have the invoices.  I recommend you ask Farnham for them
